Whisnap ("we," "us," or "our") provides the Whisnap application. This policy explains the information handled when you use the app and website.
Audio and transcripts
Dictation runs on your Mac by default. We do not receive your audio. On-device recordings and history remain on your device, where you control them.
If you choose your own provider key, requests go directly from your Mac to your chosen provider. Its terms, privacy policy and charges apply. Using a provider key is free in Whisnap. If you configure a webhook, the data you choose to send goes to your configured endpoint; its operator controls that destination.
Account and purchase information
Free on-device dictation requires no account. If you create an account to purchase or activate Pro, we keep your email and purchase record to authenticate you, restore access and provide support. Stripe processes payments; we do not store your full card details.
Website and service records
Authentication cookies keep you signed in. Service requests may create security and operational logs needed to prevent abuse and diagnose failures. These are separate from your dictation audio and local history. The marketing site does not load an advertising tag manager or chat widget.
Optional engine speed reports
Speed report uploads are off by default. If you opt in, reports include model, hardware, operating system and timing information. Reports contain no audio, transcript, file paths or provider keys. The collector does not store your IP or link reports to an account. Community numbers are published only for cohorts with at least 20 reports from at least 5 batches.
Use, disclosure and retention
We use account and purchase information to operate your account, verify Pro access, provide receipts and respond to requests. We share information with payment and authentication providers only as needed to deliver those services, and where required by law. We do not sell your personal information.
We retain account and purchase records while needed to provide access and meet legal obligations. Local recordings and model files are controlled on your Mac. Deleting an account does not delete data from third-party providers or your device.
Your rights and security
You may request access, correction or deletion of your account data, subject to applicable legal retention requirements. We use appropriate safeguards, but no system can guarantee absolute security. You may also raise concerns with your local data protection authority.
Children and changes
The service is not directed to children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has supplied personal information. We may update this policy and will publish the revised date here.
